MELISSA MCCARTHY has credited her “boring life” with helping her shed 50 pounds.
The full-figured funny woman has been stunning the media with her slimmed-down new look while promoting new movie “The Boss,” and she reveals the weight loss was not the result of a major lifestyle change or months spent at the gym.
“There’s no trick, nothing to tell, just super boring life,” the 45-year-old tells TV news show Extra. “You bring it real down, you don’t do anything fun and you go to bed at 7.30. That’s the trick.”
And that often means bedtime begins early in the evening for Melissa and her husband Ben Falcone.
“He’ll ask, ‘Is it five and are you in jammies (pajamas)?” she giggles. “I’m gonna call them loungewear.”
Ben is the director and co-star of Melissa’s new comedy, in which she plays a tough businesswoman forced to rebuild her life after a jail spell, and the “Bridesmaids” star admits she loved working with her husband.
“We had so much fun making this, this was dreamy,” she gushes.
It allowed the couple to spend a lot more time at home with daughters Georgette and Vivian.
Fans rarely get a glimpse into the star’s life away from film sets and premieres, but she insists there’s nothing to see.
“It’s like a good, old-fashioned Calgon (water softener) commercial where my 13-year-old dog keeps barking at, like, phantom noises…,” she giggles. “There’s kids screaming, there’s always something. It’s truly crazy, but I like chaos.”
And she’s truly happy just being Mrs. Falcone away from all the glitz and glamour, adding her husband is “a real dreamboat.” She jokes, “I don’t know why he likes me, but he’s great.”
“The Boss” hits theaters in America on April 8.
